Join Our Board of Directors

Becoming a board member is an opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of NICU and bereaved families. We are looking for board members who believe in our mission, possess a heart of leadership, and are willing to be active in their governance roles. Board members may be located anywhere within the United States, but must be willing to travel one weekend per year for our annual board meeting. 


Director of Volunteer Outreach

Location: Anywhere! This is a "virtual" opportunity, which allows flexibility to work with your schedule

Commitment: 10 hours per week

Responsibilities include:
  • Act as liaison to coordinators and volunteers
  • ​Maintain all incoming volunteer applications, and presents applicants to the board on a monthly basis
  • Ensure that new coordinators and volunteers have received all necessary materials and passwords
  • Monitor volunteer progress, and ensures projects are being carried out as agreed upon
  • Identify and recommend strategies to address volunteer challenges
  • Respond to coordinators and volunteers’ emails regarding policy and procedure

Volunteer from your home

In recent years, Project Sweet Peas has expanded its outreach nationally, and we are always in need of volunteers to help us carry out our mission. Virtual volunteering removes the barriers of distance and allows flexibility to work with your schedule, so that you can offer your passion, skills, and expertise to make a difference. 

​Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness (NICA) Month Coordinator

We are currently seeking 1-2 volunteers interested in advancing the efforts of our worldwide initiative, Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month. Help us grow our community of support, inspiration, and empowerment.

Volunteer must be a self-starter, with the ability to work within a virtual environment.

Commitment: 15 hours per month

Responsibilities may include:
  • Become knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc
  • Build and manage relationships with NICA month sponsors and other constituents
  • Serve as an administrator on Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month social media (including facebook and/or twitter)
  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue with constituents

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Social media experience​​​
  • Marketing background
  • Fundraising experience
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills

Grant Committee Volunteer

Commitment: 5-10 hours per month

Responsibilities may include:
  • Research government, foundation and corporate grants
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with grant funders
  • Assist Board of Directors with the writing and submission of the grants
  • Comply with all grants as required by corporate/foundation donors
  • Maintain accurate records in database of all grants and donations
  • Track statistics relevant to development and report metrics and data to donors as needed

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Grant research and writing experience​​

Promotional Committee Volunteer: Social Media

Are you experienced in social media development and engagement? Are you interested in giving back to the NICU community? We are looking for a volunteer to assist with our social media outlets. Help us grow our community and support more families in the process.

Commitment: 10-15 hours per month

Responsibilities may include:
  • Become knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc
  • Serve as an administrator on Project Sweet Peas' social media (including facebook, instagram, pinterest, and/or twitter)
  • Create engaging social media posts
  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue with constituents
  • Promote events, awards, fundraisers, miscellaneous items upon the request from the Board of Directors and volunteers

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Social media experience​​

Bereavement Volunteer

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer who wants to give back to the Pregnancy and Infant Loss community. Volunteer must be a team player and become an active member of our organization and bereavement committee. 

Commitment: 15-20 hours per month

Responsibilities may include:
  • Become knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc
  • Facilitate our Forever My Sweet Pea Facebook page by creating engaging posts and by interacting with community members
  • Create personalized graphics on a monthly basis for bereaved families

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Social media experience​​
  • ​Graphic design experience
