Peer support volunteers actively provide support and resources to families in our Facebook NICU family group.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 5-10 hours

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc... 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring the NICU Navigation facebook group to assure content aligns with the group rules

  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue with group members

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICU parent or family member

  • Experience with bereavement, conflict mediation and/or counseling

  • Experience with social media moderation

  • Strong writing skills​

  • Social media experience

  • Graphic design skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

​Social Media volunteers assist with outreach initiatives and assist with managing our social media channels. 

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 10-15 hours
​Location: Anywhere, this is a virtual position

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc...

  • Assists with fundraising efforts 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

Responsibilities may include:

  • Serve as an administrator on Project Sweet Peas' social media (including facebook, instagram, and/or twitter)

  • Create engaging social media posts

  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue with constituents

  • Promote events, awards, fundraisers, miscellaneous items upon the request from the Board of Directors and volunteers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Marketing experience

  • Social media experience

  • Graphic design skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

​Writing volunteers assist in the development of informational brochures, booklets, blog articles, social media posts and a monthly newsletter.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 5-10 hours

  • Assists with fundraising efforts 

  • Promptly responds to emails

Responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting comprehensive research efforts to inform writing efforts

  • Composing content for marketing materials 

  • Composing content for e-communications, including blog posts and other content for the Project Sweet Peas and Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month websites

  • Editing internal and external documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Marketing experience

  • Social media marketing experience

  • Graphic design skills

​Grant volunteers research, identify, respond and track grant opportunities that meet the needs of Project Sweet Peas.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 5-10 hours
​Location: Anywhere, this is a virtual position

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc...

  • Stays informed with current organization programs, activity, and goals

  • Assists with fundraising efforts 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

Responsibilities may include:

  • Research foundation and corporate grants

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with grant funders

  • Assist Board of Directors with the writing and submission of the grants

  • Comply with all grants as required by corporate/foundation donors

  • Maintain accurate records in database of all grants and donations

  • Track statistics relevant to development and report metrics and data to donors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

NICU Awareness volunteers help advance the efforts of our worldwide initiative, Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness (NICA) Month. They help us grow our community of support, inspiration, and empowerment.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 15 hours
Location: Anywhere, this is a virtual position

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc...

  • Assists with fundraising efforts 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

Responsibilities may include:

  • Build and manage relationships with NICA month partners and sponsors

  • Serve as an administrator on Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness Month social media 

  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue with constituents

  • Create and edit materials for print and online publication 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Social media experience

  • Graphic design experience​

Bereavement volunteers provide support and services to the Pregnancy and Infant Loss community.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 10 hours
Location: Anywhere, this is a virtual position

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc...

  • Assists with fundraising efforts for our Bereavement programming 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

Responsibilities may include:

  • Create personalized graphics on a monthly basis for bereaved families

  • Participation in annual candle vigil

  • Preparing and shipping out Memory Boxes and Memory Kits

  • Writing and editing bereavement print materials, blog articles, etc...

  • Other support services as needed 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Social media experience

  • Graphic design experience

Our Board of Advisors is made up of NICU and bereaved family members, medical professionals, and community advocates to provide guidance and direction for the organization. 

Expectations

Monthly time commitment of 2-5 hours

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweet Peas organization history, mission, etc...

  • Assists with fundraising efforts 

  • Attends quarterly virtual meetings 

  • Promptly responds to emails

  • Active in Board of Advisors channel of Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

  • ​2 year term

Responsibilities may include:

  • Review current policy and procedures 

  • Explore ideas for strategic direction

  • Act annually in a significant way to support the organization's mission (e.g. expert advice, fundraising, attending conference or community event)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Fundraising experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Professional or personal experience in a NICU setting

  • Professional experience working with bereaved families

Division Volunteers assist Division Coordinators with deliveries, events, and fundraising in their local community.

The below volunteer positions are for those who have the time and ability for a large commitment. These program focused roles help us build relationships with hospitals and local communites to provide services to NICU and bereaved families.

A Division Coordinator establishes a local Division of Project Sweet Peas and actively works towards building a strong presence in their community to support NICU and bereaved families. They coordinate relationships with area hospitals to provide a variety of programs and services. Division Coordinators are passionate about the mission and active within the organization.

Expectations

Monthly time committment of 15 hours per month

  • Becomes knowledgeable of Project Sweeet Peas organization history, mission, etc... 

  • Connects and builds strong relationships with hospital representatives to assess

  • hospital's needs and coordinate deliveries

  • Participates in group and peer2peer fundraisers

  • Build and manage relationships with community supporters and volunteers

  • Promptly responds to all emails

  • Active in Slack communication app

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & Division activity

  • Submits annual Division agreement with budget, delivery and service schedule, and fundraising plan

  • NICU Awareness Month delivery & minimum of 2 additional deliveries/program services required per year

Division Coordinator agreement is reviewed and renewed annually

A Sweet Pea Advocate coordinates a partnership between Project Sweet Peas and 1 hospital. An Advocate serves as an active volunteer in one of the organizations virtual volunteer positions. This add-on role allows the opportunity to provide care package deliveries to a hospital that is not currently serviced by a Project Sweet Peas Division. Advocates are passionate about the mission to empower families and active within the organization.

Expectations

  • Minimum commitment of 5 hours per month in national volunteer position/committee

  • Submits monthly report on volunteer hours & activity

  • Submits annual Advocate agreement 

  • 1 care package delivery during NICU Awareness Month

    • ​Additional deliveries are optional and require participation in group and/or peer2peer fundraisers
