My husband, son, and I received a Project Sweet Peas care package during our 3+ month first stay in our second level III NICU.  It felt so nice to be remembered!  As I went through each thoughtful item inside the really nice Project Sweet Peas tote bag, I kept thinking that it must have been a former NICU parent that packed it.  They knew exactly what we needed.  I am pretty sure we used every last thing in the bag, but my most standout memory is actually the notebook and pen.  It's the one I took to family meetings with the NICU team, with my lists of desperate questions.  It's the one I recorded all the stats from the NICU nurses when I'd call before our visit, after our visit, and a few times in the night.  It was an odd thing to have as a companion maybe, but that notebook came to hold great meaning for me.

As soon as we finally had our very last discharge as a NICU family (if we ever go back, it will have to be to the PICU), I decided right away I wanted to pay it forward.  It wasn't long before a friend from high school posted that she had delivered a micro preemie - so I got her address and soon she had a care package of her own, which I know she too treasured.
These packages mean so much to us, and we are so thankful for Project Sweet Peas.

Thank you!
Sarah

My sweet daughter was born at 28 weeks at Magees Womens hospital in Pittsburgh. While there we received a Christmas care package. It is a wonderful thing that you all do. Incredibly thoughtful. We all know the stress that comes with a NICU stay. Thank you so much for caring for the sweet babies and their families.

With great appreciation,
Jennifer

Hi there -

I received a beautiful memorial box when my twins died.  I am so thankful for all of the contributions that people made to put it together and have looked at the items inside it often.  I have two butterfly magnets on my refrigerator - one for each of my girls - and they make me smile when I see them.

There is no one who understands what a baby loss mother is feeling like someone who has already gone through it, and knowing that all of those ladies had been through it and were contributing items to help other people going through it was inspirational to me.

Thank you so much for all you do!

I was one of the one's who recieved a care package from you guys and i must say it was lifting because it was right around christopher's birthday we recieved it and i also got  a necklace with the package which is around my neck atm and i love it so much it helped so much at a time of great sadness they said it gets easier i agree but it doesnt make the holidays birthdays or special days any easier.

I recieved one last year. Thank you so much. It kept me going. Loved the book to write everything down, that drs and nurses would say.

I received a care package from the "Amazing Grace" chapter in Washington. It was such a PLEASANT surprise that someone who didn't know me, my situation, or my child could show me/us so much love in one package. I wanted to THANK the project leader in person. We went out for coffee just about 15 months ago & we are still friends today!:) With out PSP, I never would have meet a wonderful person & her beautiful family! Thank you for donating your time & money. I know many if you are NICU alum's but for someone who needed a smile, I got one & a friend.

Thank you, Kim

We were sent a Project Sweet Peas Nicu bag while my son was in the nicu for 52 days due to a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. The nicu bag was totally unexpected & arrived at our home after a particularly difficult day in the nicu. The thoughtfulness of the gesture meant a great deal to us. The cute green sweet peas tote became a fixture in our nicu pod & we still use it now that we're home. Seeing it has always brought a smile to my face as I recall how kind & supportive strangers were during this most difficult time of our lives. Thank you!

This is such a wonderful thing you are doing. My friend just had her baby on Friday, 9 weeks early. I've been doing a lot of research for her and I am just amazed at what is offered now to parents, between all the info as well as care packages and everything! The last true experience I had with a preemie until now, was with my nephew 20 years ago, and there wasn't really anything then! Thank you so much for all that you do!

I currently have a daughter, Juliahna Elise, in the NICU. She was born 15.5 weeks early and weighed only 14 ozs. She has thrived and overcame so much in her three months of life so far. We are hoping to bring her home in February. Project Sweet Pea has provided us with a meaningful gift bag that we hold close to our hearts. Thanks for all that your organization has done! God bless! ?

The photos from the candlelight vigil are SO beautiful and were done with such thought and great care.. I cannot even begin to describe how much something like this means to so many..

Thank You.. for taking the time and having a heart and love of others so big to do this for all of us.. Your dedication and earnest kindness astounds me!!

You make heaven smile and bring joy to our hearts.. Your selfless resolve to goodness unto others will forever be remembered!!

Again, thank you..

I recently gave birth to a premature baby at Mass General Hospital. I hadn't been expecting to either have a baby when I did or end up in a nicu, and therefore had nothing with me for my daughter. The items from Project Sweet Peas and Gabriel's Gift were lovely and really brought some normalcy to a highly abnormal experience. While I wouldn't have thought in advance that having blankets or bears for my daughter would matter, it really did. So thank you for softening our arrival in the nicu. It was a wonderful and meaningful gift for our family.
